Donut Assistant: Part-time to start, early-morning shifts, $20/hr + tips

Help Andersonville wake up happy, one hot donut at a time. The Good One is Chicago’s
brand-new, fry-to-order, queer-owned donut shop, popping up inside another queer business
just off the Red Line - Loaves & Witches. We’re building a place where everyone can see
themselves in the kitchen and at the counter. Join as our very first hire, learn every step of the
craft, and grow into the leader who runs the show.
We’re looking for your help to bring hot donuts to customers; tasks include:
● Fry and finish: turn proofed dough into golden rings, flavor and package them
● Mix and proof: weigh, mix, and knead batches in a large mixer
● Clean clean clean: wash, rinse, sanitize, mop, and all the usual
● Pitch in everywhere: packaging, labeling, etc – whatever keeps service smooth
Within weeks you’ll start rotating through front of house duties, inventory, planning, more.
Must-haves
● Able to lift 50 lbs and stay on your feet for 4 hours at a time, with a 4–5 a.m. start.
● Comfortable around 375 °F oil and commercial gear (full safety training provided).
● Food handler certification or willingness to complete short training (reimbursed)
● Reliability, curiosity, inclusive spirit.
Nice-to-haves
● Baking or pastry experience, lived experience in queer community spaces.
● Food service or customer service experience.
Schedule and pay
● Start: a few early shifts a week (about 4–5 a.m. call-time, 3–5 hours each).
● Growth: expect more days, full-time hours as we grow demand quickly.
● Comp: $20/hr plus pooled tips and Chicago-mandated sick leave and PTO.
Perks from Day One
● Donuts! Enjoy a snack, revel in the glory of tests, misfires, etc.
● Growing from part-time to full-time as we all grow together.
● Flexible dress code beyond food-safety and common sense
● Early voice in flavors, playlists, community collaborations, and overall vibe of the shop
